Weekly Recap: Movement Around the League

11 juli 2022 16:00

With the past week behind us, we take a look at player and personnel moves within the league. This week was a quiet one around the league but there were still a few moves, but the big news of the week was the NHL draft.

Ebert

Örebro suffered a big loss this week as Nick Ebert has signed a contract in the KHL. The big defenseman played the better part of three seasons with Örebro tallying 26 goals and 53 assists in 124 games played. He has signed with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.

Zohorna

Tomas Zohorna will not be returning to Oskarshamn this coming season. The 34 year old came to the SHL this past season and put up solid numbers with the team, scoring 12 goals and adding 19 assists in 51 games played. However, it appears Zohorna will be a one and done in the SHL as he will be returning to his home country to play with HC Dynamo Pardubice in the Czech League.

Palmu

Although they lost a player on their blue line Örebro strengthened their offensive core this week signing Finnish forward Petrus Palmu. The 24 year old has a diverse resume including time in the OHL, AHL, DEL and most recently was the captain for Jukurit in Liiga.

  • Great fun to be able to add Petrus to the team building. We get a nimble player who is strong on the puck and has a nice finish. We like Petrus' attitude, and his look for the game and he will take further steps with us, says Örebro's sports manager Niklas Johansson

The contract is valid until the end of the 2023/24 season

Öby-Olssen

Oskarshman also lost a young prospect this week as 20 year old Mikkel Öby-Olssen has signed with Altumna in Hockeyallsvenskan. The young Norwegian appeared in 35 games for Oskarshamn last season.
